| One of Grassingtons
many claims to fame, is the public pathway known as
the Dales Way. Entering northward from the village
of Hebden via the suspension bridge, first built by
a local blacksmith in the last century. The Dales
Way swings left following a gentle section of the
riverside passing Linton Church eventually leading
to Mill Lane past Grassington's Manorial Corn Mill
and trout farm.
The Dales Way leaves Grassington along the main street
to turn left at the Town Hall along Chapel Street.
After a short walk, turn right at Bank Lane and at
SE 001647 turn right at the Dales Way sign and head
into open pasture. (Lea Green) In this and fields
surrounding, are traces of an Iron Age settlement
and it's walls.
Grass Wood can be seen over on the left (page under
construction) There are many opportunities to see
hare, plover and curlew hereabouts.
The video shows part of the river as it traverses
between Appletreewick and Burnsall. It gives a flavour
of the typical flaura and fauna alongside the woods
and riverside, whilst travelling the Dales Way.
