For the past seven years I have been privileged to be a volunteer guide at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal near Ripon in North Yorkshire, a National Trust property and Yorkshire’s first World Heritage Site.

I am now delighted to offer illustrated talks on all aspects of this 800 acre estate, introducing my audience to some of my personal WOW factors along the way.

Desolation to Dissolution
The rags to riches tale of the magnificent, ruined monastic retreat of Fountains Abbey,

Wild Hostile Spot to World Heritage Site
Learn how the ruined religious establishment of Fountains Abbey united with its next door neighbour-the18th century pleasure gardens at Studley Royal-to become Yorkshire’s first World Heritage Site.

The 18th Century Wonder of the North
Visit a Regency pleasure park that still entrances and delights today and see why the National Trust property of Studley Royal receives over 350,000 visitors every year.

St. Mary’s Church, Studley Royal
Architectural Hidden Gem- discover an ecclesiastical masterpiece of high Gothic Victorian architecture that rightly deserves its place in the 1000 most significant churches in the country.

What does a talk cost?
I offer my talks on a voluntary basis and my subject is the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal - not too far away from Grassington

All my talks are illustrated and I bring my own projector and lap top.

I don't charge for my services, merely ask for travelling expenses and a donation if possible to the work of the National Trust.
